"Indie rock is an ugly rollercoaster ride. One minute you're opening for Coldplay, the next minute your livelihood is torn from you in the dead of night. Gear theft has become a sorry phenomenon of late, striking Brian Jonestown Massacre and Mahogony a few weeks ago. Sonic Youth finally recovered precious instruments stolen from them six years ago just this summer, but not every story has such a happy ending.
